Pusat Kopi Nusantara

Led by Rivo Trie Septiadiguna, PKNI is a community-first specialty coffee operation in the Cianjur highlands of West Java. Rivo supports a network of dedicated farmers with expertise in agronomy and processing, responsible for 700 tonnes of specialty coffee annually. Our connection to PKNI began when our teammate Hadi met Rivo on the ground in Cianjur.

Why Indonesia

Indonesia is the world's fourth largest coffee producer, yet only a fraction of what it grows reaches specialty buyers. We're changing that.

Volcanic Highlands

West Java's coffee grows in volcanic landscapes shaped by fertile ash derived soils and high elevation growing conditions. That combination helps create the structure, sweetness, and complexity that make the region's best coffees stand out.

More Than 300 Years of Coffee History

Coffee has been grown in Indonesia since 1696, giving the country more than three centuries of coffee heritage. Java helped shape that story early on, and today that history continues through producers who are redefining what Indonesian coffee can taste like.

Smallholder and Community Driven

Indonesia's coffee sector is built by smallholders. More than 95 percent of production comes from growers with plots averaging about one hectare, and there are roughly 2 million coffee farm households across the country. In West Java, farmer cooperatives are gaining recognition, but the region is still emerging globally, which means many skilled farmers remain underrepresented in specialty markets.
