At Across Indonesian Seas (AIS), we have always believed that the best partnerships are built on shared values. Today, we are proud to announce a new collaboration with Bumi Coffee, a Vancouver-based Indonesian specialty coffee brand, united by a common mission: to bring more of Indonesia's finest coffee to Canadian cups.
A Natural Fit
From the moment our teams first connected, it was clear that this was more than a business opportunity.
Both AIS and Bumi were founded with the same conviction: that Indonesian coffee deserves a far bigger presence in Canada. AIS was created to build direct trade pathways between Indonesian producers and the Canadian market. Bumi was born from the desire of three Indonesian founders, who came to Canada as students in 2009, to share the specialty coffee of their homeland with British Columbians. When we sat down together, the alignment was immediate.
Shared Values, Shared Vision
What makes this partnership meaningful is not just what we do, but how we do it.
Both teams are deeply committed to farmer sustainability. AIS works directly with origin partners to ensure fair, transparent supply chains. Bumi practices fair trade and sources directly from smallholder farmers, supporting centuries-old farming traditions while ensuring ethical wages and better livelihoods for the families who cultivate the land.
Both teams believe in long-term relationships over short-term transactions. In an industry where supply chains can be impersonal and extractive, we share the belief that lasting impact comes from trust, consistency, and genuine care for the people at every stage of the journey.

Bumi brings roasting craftsmanship, a loyal community of Canadian coffee lovers, and an intimate understanding of what resonates with consumers here at home. Together, these strengths complement each other in a way that neither company could achieve alone.
This collaboration is rooted in something deeper than contracts and logistics. It is rooted in the chemistry between our teams, in shared meals and long conversations about what Indonesian coffee means to us, and in the excitement of building something together that genuinely connects people across borders.
What Comes Next
We are starting with coffee, but our ambitions extend further. As this partnership grows, we look forward to exploring new Indonesian products and new ways to bring the richness of the archipelago to Canada.
